Join us for an Intro to NFTS with Kenyan NFT Club (Mbogi ya NFT)
What is an NFT?
NFT is a an acronym for non-fungible token. They are digital assets existing on the blockchain that represent real world objects such as art, domain names, virtual experiences, videos, music — essentially they can represent any kind of digital file that can be traded online.
Non-fungible means that the assets are unique.
What is Minting?
You can mint an NFT and minting refers to the process of putting a piece of digital art onto the blockchain. The ‘mint’ is the first time digital art is placed on the blockchain.
How do you get paid?
Through NFT royalties. NFT Royalties are automatic payouts that the author created to be made from the sales on the secondary market. Each time a transaction for an NFT is made, the smart contract (code binding the NFT onto the blockchain) makes sure that a predetermined cut off the profits goes to the artist or creator.
