Luanda Photo Walk (In -Person Exhibition in Angola)

Curated by Leonardo Thomas

What began as an event during Unpublished Africa Photography Week 2024, themed "With Impact in Mind," has grown into so much more. The Luanda Photo Walk, led by Leonardo Thomas, sparked a creative community in Angola and it will now continue with an in-person exhibition.

Featuring work born from the Luanda Photo Walk and our publication, "From the African Streets Volume Two," this exhibition highlights the incredible talent emerging from Angola.

We would like to acknowledge our host for the evening - Leonardo Thomas. His efforts in bringing people together and leading at a local level have been instrumental in the realization of this exhibition. Leonardo has gone from being part of our flagship program Creative Business Studio, to hosting Luanda Photo Walk and now he is serving the creatives in his country through a group photography exhibition he has curated. We look forward to seeing him continue to lead more creatives in Angola and beyond.

Given that one of Unpublished Africa's mandates is to create pathways for sustainable careers, we are more than excited to see some of the photographers exhibiting their work today in Luanda participate in their very first exhibition! Exhibitions serve as a publishing opportunity as well as a platform for creatives to partner with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by raising awareness, promoting dialogue, and inspiring action towards a more just and equitable world.

Congratulations again to Leonardo and all of the volunteers who dedicated their time to making this a reality. Thank you for being part of the Unpublished Africa community and for helping us to impact and amplify African voices.
