Jos in the 21st Century

Mark Andrew (Nigeria) - "Jos in the 21st Century", 2025. (From the Jos Photowalk by Unpublished Africa)
The Jos in the 21st Century photowalk at Terminus Market highlighted the city’s resilience, culture, and vibrant community through the eyes of its participants. More than just documenting traders and daily activities, the experience emphasized storytelling, capturing not only images but also the emotions and perspectives that define the city. Each photographer brought a unique lens, revealing different layers of Jos and reinforcing that photography is as much about intention and connection as it is about visuals.
These photowalks have been steadily growing into a collective movement, creating opportunities for collaboration, learning, and shared narratives. They are becoming platforms where photographers come together to preserve the living history of Jos while building a visual legacy for the future. In this way, each walk contributes to a broader archive that ensures the city’s culture and everyday stories are not only celebrated today but also remembered tomorrow.
