The Big Question in Photography as an Agent of Social Transformation: Collaboration for Impact
Published for Impact in Mind Unpublished Africa Photography Week, the paper challenges photographers to think beyond creating beautiful images and asks:
How can photography become a catalyst for social transformation?
What responsibility do photographers have to the communities they document?
How can photographers be supported to share work that inspires action?
Photography is more than a creative profession. It is a powerful tool for advocacy, accountability, and social transformation and when photographers work intentionally, collaborate across sectors, and place ethics at the centre of their practice, their images can do far more than document the world as they can also help change it.
Meaningful photography begins not only with what we choose to capture, but with the impact we hope those images will create. The paper proposes a shift towards intentional, impact-driven photography and publishing with purpose. Read the full paper:
