Unpublished Africa’s 3rd Photo Week is underway, and we’ve already seen photographers in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zimbabwe meet, create, and build new connections. Each gathering reminds that these community spaces open doors, strengthen networks, and give emerging photographers room to grow.

Welcome to African Visual Storyteller! Your weekly guide to African photographers, exhibitions, and creative opportunities.

Unpublished Africa Photo Week 2025 Highlights So Far

Kampala Photo Walk πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬

The Kampala Photo walk brought photographers together to explore the city, capture everyday scenes, and connect with others who share an interest in visual storytelling. It offered a relaxed, open space for people to practice, learn, and document life in Kampala.

Nairobi Photo Exchange πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ

The Nairobi Photo Exchange created a space for photographers to share ideas, discuss their work, and learn from one another. It focused on building community and giving both new and experienced photographers a chance to grow through conversation and collaboration.

Lagos Photo Walk πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬

Our first Lagos Photo Walk with the WAC people gathered participants to capture the rhythm of daily life. It encouraged people to explore familiar spaces with a fresh perspective while connecting with others who enjoy capturing the world through images.

Open Call For Submissions

We are looking for photography that reflects the everyday realities, identities, and communities that shape African life. Representation is not only about visibility; it's also about agency, context, and the power of voice. Through this open call, we hope to bring together work that challenges assumptions and deepens how we understand the world around us:

Deadline: πŸ—“οΈ 21 November 2025

Unpublished Africa Photo Week is still on-going! Don’t miss your chance to join the remaining events, meet fellow photographers, and capture your own stories.
